LOVE IN LOCKDOWN
LOVE IN LOCKDOWN--HE PULLED ME FROM BED, PART-1, DCS
My life was going so perfectly. I had a perfect job, a perfect boyfriend, and a perfect family, that support me always. I was born and brought up in Kolkata. My family is very broad-minded.
Despite all relatives with traditional thinking, my family never stopped me from doing anything that I wanted to do. I am the most spoiled child among my cousins, at least this is what my relatives feel. I was taught Hip-hop against the wishes of my grandmother. I was taught Guitar against the wishes of my dad’s elder brother.
As I grew up, my mother’s sister got her daughter into MBBS, whereas I joined creative writing. No-one in the family approved of it. But I was not a studious child.
I always wanted to do something more interesting, more practical. Whatever I did, it never satisfied me. As if, there is something missing. My life revolved around Pranjal.
Pranjal was my next-door neighbor. He was a sweet, handsome, fair complexion guy. He was never into fitness or exercise and loves to live a simple life. He was my childhood friend. We went to the same school. We were very close to each other and so were our families.

Hey, Mishti. See, I have brought your favorite pizza today.” Pranjal came running to my room.
Oh, wow. I was really feeling hungry. You always know what I want.
We started enjoying our Chicken Pepperoni with extra cheese. I looked at Pranjal.
“You had a hair-cut?” I had just noticed him.
“Yes” He said taking a bite.
“Umm. Why don’t you keep hair long? I love long hair.”
“You never like anything I do.” He seems annoyed.
“Now you have passed class 12th. You are not in school anymore. Why do you want to still look like an obedient schoolboy?”
“So, your parents would also like me.”
“And what about their daughter?” I winked and smiled playfully.
“Their daughter already loves me” He came closer.
I smiled and looked into his eyes.

He slowly stroked my hair and gave a peck on my cheeks. I pulled him closer from his collar and launched myself on him. I pinned him down on the couch. He held me by my waist.
My lips mashed against his as if I was trying to flatten and destroy his mouth. I hungrily pushed him back, made his mouth open, tongue pushing past his clenched teeth to the moist space within.
I rolled my tongue around his tongue and sucked it. His fingers touched my soft belly. I felt excited. I stroked his hair and bit his lip.
“Mishtiiii!!!”
I heard my mother but didn’t stop. Pranjal was scared. He pushed me aside. I combed my hair with my hands and winked at him.
“What happened to you Mishti? You bit me so hard. It’s paining.”
I laughed, gave him a flying kiss, and went out to listen to my mom.
The time ran fast. We both did our graduation with plans of getting married after that. Then he got his first job offer from Mumbai is one of the known multi-national companies. I was left alone and he went to make his career.
I got that time to introspect. I can’t just get married, have kids, and sit at home. I need to think about my career too. I need to do something big. One of my cousins, Promila, was living in Bangalore and so I convinced my parents to move to Bangalore and do a job.
My parents agreed because they trusted her and took a promise that I will stay with her and call them every day. I got my job instantly as a creative designer in a magazine. I started living my own life; the life that I wanted.
All was going great. Pranjal used to come to meet me on every weekend. Again everything became perfect, but I think I don’t like the perfect.
Pranjal was so good. All my friends liked him. But I stopped feeling that attachment. Why he has to be so picture-perfect all the time? Our physical relationship was not satisfying. It was so normal and boring. I could not feel anything but could not say anything so he didn’t get hurt.
And then the world faced coronavirus. Pranjal stopped traveling as Mumbai was the most affected. My company gave me work from home on 19th March 2020.
And then on the 24th of March 2020, something happened that changed everything. My cousin had gone to a friend’s home nearby. I just sat down in the balcony with my cup of coffee, when the bell rang. It was our neighbor Sanyog.
“Hi”
I had seen him earlier on many occasions. He was a tall guy with muscular built and whitish complexion. When he smiles, you can see dimples on his cheeks. It was killing. He had long shoulder length hairs and a well-trimmed beard and mustache.
His eyes were too sexy. I use to stare at him from my balcony, when he used to go to the gym every morning, in his tight fight jogger pants and body fit t-shirt. He had a black gym bag with a pic of hulk on it.
Black must be his favorite color as he was always wearing black. I had told Promila on many occasions, that I had a crush on him and she uses to laugh on me.

“Are you mad Mishti? You have one of the cutest boy-friend that any girl would die for. And here you are, crushing on this dark Malayali guy?”
“Don’t say that. He is not dark. He is not fair like Pranjal but is just whitish. And anyways girls should be fair, boys look handsome when they are dark.” I laughed.
“Oh my, my. What are you thinking madam? Are you planning to leave Pranjal?”
“No, I have not thought of it yet” I winked. We both laughed.
But I had also never thought of it that Sanyog will come to my door one day. Life gives you lots of surprises when you are not thinking about them. The whole world was under lockdown, and here I am standing at the door to welcome a change in my life.
